Athelhampton is a beautiful House & Gardens near Tolpuddle in Dorset. Set around a Tudor manor, the 12 acres of gardens created by Francis Inigo Thomas feature a large walled kitchen garden with original glasshouses, walks along the river Piddle, massive topiary Yews in the Great Court, a Dovecot and Corona garden with circular coronet. A really calm and atmospheric garden with lovely restaurant. I didn’t go inside the house on this occasion but I have before and it is genuinely fascinating, especially having a connection with Thomas Hardy who loved the house and garden and visited many times.
